Green mentioned this a couple of years ago in an interview...
...there used to be a slope on the Carrow Road pitch for drainage purposes, with the Barclay end being a couple of yards higher than the River End.
We'd start by attacking 'uphill' towards the Barclay as our legs would be fresher, leaving the opposition to play against the slope in the second half when their legs had started to go.
The slope was levelled out when they re-laid the pitch last season though, so I guess it's now down to old habits?
