Received this e-mail from our son's nursery yesterday:

Dear parents,

As Christmas draws near we would like to teach the children about the spirit of good will and charity. A lot of families live in poverty, not just abroad but here in Great Britain too. Emma, one of our Child Care Practitioners, has very kindly organised a food bank and so if you are able to donate anything from the list of foods below that would be very much appreciated.

Cereals
Tea
Coffee
Long life milk or dried milk
Sugar
Dilute fruit juice
Biscuits
Bottled sauces
Tinned foods
Desserts
Packet foods.

The following items would also be appreciated:

Soap
Flannels
Shampoo
Nappies
Sanitary towels
