yes a 2DS will play all 3DS games - we have both - neither get used anymore

yes all, really all

the top screen of a 3DS is special for 3D-ing, but not recommended for younglings and make my old eyes go funny, so have always turned the slider to the off position

2DS is exactly the same, but non-folding and non special top screen

3DS is the original, 2DS is the newer of them - save your money, save your eyes, get a 2DS - or better still, get a Switch
