Ineffectual subs? No. But we were overrun in midfield from the start and we had to wait

for the subs for that to improve. Also, why not start Stiepermann? We needed more physical presence. Other than that, the players demonstrated how thinly stretched the squad is at the moment. When you have to rely on Murphy having a good game, you know you're likely to be disappointed.
