so if you take on a new job and your employer decides they no longer want you after 6 month, and you've done nothing wrong, you wouldn't want the compensation your contract entitles you to?

I'd expect my notice to be paid, so would you.

The only thing that makes this in any way eyebrow raising is the ££ attached to it.
