Probably risks impeachment and would almost certainly not stop the investigation. There is a team of high powered lawyers and investigators working on this.

Trump could also technically pardon himself but his position would be untenable at that point.

He probably would not have to pardon himself as Pence would almost certainly do it ala Ford/Nixon
