We caused our own problems (or the referee did)

Every single opportunity they had came in the first half from either a bad refereeing decision or one of our players p**sing around with it in a stupid area of the pitch (in the case of the post shot it was both).

I know that we are trying to play it out from the back and that if you are going to do that you have to be brave and play in tight areas but there were a few occasions yesterday where I thought we got the balance wrong and needed to put our foot through the ball and just clear it. I like Stiepermann but he can be very casual at times and we also sometimes assume Wes and Madders are going to get free-kicks and get caught out when they don't. As the referee had clearly decided he was only going to give us a free kick if hell froze over yesterday (in the first half at least) we got caught out a couple of times not playing on after they had fouled us. Thought Wes looked back to something approaching his best though.
