Modern small turbo charged petrol engines have similar characteristics to diesels

In terms of low down torque and power delivery.

If you're not going to be lugging loads around, don't rule it out. Def worth another test drive.

Obviously if you're doing high mileage or will be towing or otherwise taking heavy loads, the diesel is the one.

My parents have a 1.2 petrol skoda yeti which is a similar size, the engine is great.
