Surely.....

Smoking in pubs has been going on for 100's of years. Control freakery and being overly obsessed with health has been around for less than 10.
A fair compromise would be to ban smoking in 80% of pubs and 20% are allowed to carry on. Then eveyone is pleased to some extent.
