Taking cup games seriously
I will confess, there was one of the home ties earlier in the competition where we had injuries and I didn't want us to risk any senior players but I have to say how refreshing to have a manager/coach who is taking the cup seriously and are we perhaps seeing the benefits that can bring in terms of confidence and building partnerships? I suppose it helps that we don't really have a "2nd string" but more like 18 players all of whom are interchangeable as "first teamers." It seems to be helping players to get games when they need them and build confidence but also I think the attitude towards the games is better with no discernable difference to how we apply ourselves in league games.
I hope he does the same in the FA Cup and plays a strong team. On at least 2 or 3 occasions in the last 5 years we've gone into cup matches in good form and with the team functioning well only for the manager to make a load of changes, us lose and players who were previously playing well appear to lose some form.
