Yeah. GoT started out subverting all the tropes

Season One: this is the story of how an honourable man faces insuperable odds but remains true to his honour and, oh, dies.

Season Two: this is the story of a son's revenge, uniting and leading a fractious coalition to, oh, die.

And so on.

Whereas now it's got the biggest trope of them all: good guys vs bad guys and we all know good guys will win, presumably at some cost (I expect at least one of Jon and Dany to die, possibly both, but their kid to survive; other major characters lose their plot armour from here on in too, I think). So the sooner that's just done, the better, really.
