Like I said, you're applying a Sunday league mentality to it.

Your way only works if the defender is slow, lumbering, and has a hangover following a skinful from the night before.

Starting with a fit athlete vs fit athlete, followed by not 100% athlete v tiring athlete, works.

Starting with a not 100% athlete v a fit athlete doesn't, and won't help him get fit.

He started with Ashton when not fit, Robinson when not fit, and Safri when not fit, and rightly got slated for it. You can't have it both ways.
