Are they actually trying, deliberately to end the Milk Cup?

Someone gametheory it for me - who benefits, who makes the £££, why is this happening.

Assuming they're *not* deliberately trying to end the Milk Cup, what would they be doing different if they were trying that? Because this seems like a pretty good strategy to end the Milk Cup if you ask me.
