The comment is still valid though,

major league baseball is an example of a franchise work, so are the nfl, nhl, and nba. In a franchise you dont own squat the league owns it, you just pay to operate it and get a share of the leagues profits. The league owns merchandising rights, image rights etc.. With real football you can actually own the club outright.
