If you think that

we've offered him a contract extension on the same terms then you are living in cloud cuckoo land my friend.

Personally I am doubtful we've even offered him anything but if we have it will be on significantly reduced wages. And why would we have offered him a contract extension now when he has 2 years still to run - because him not accepting a derisory contract extension offer would give us the ability to put out a story like this on the basis that the contract offer is technically "true" - that's exactly what spin is.

To be honest if we get good money for him then I am not that opposed to selling but I hate this "spin obsessed" side to our club and I also am beginning to get uneasy about the obsession with downsizing everything immediately this summer - its a hell of a risk to try and get promoted copying the Huddersfield approach. It may have worked for them this season (although they only scraped up on pens in the playoffs) but we should really be doing all we can to get back up this season because as much as the club now likes to bang on about being "self funding" we are not we are primarily funded by the premier league tv monies and without them we will be one of the poorest teams in the division, especially with our "no debt"mantra as well.
