I think that's one of the most annoying things about these pop stars preaching to their

fans to pressure governments into cancelling debt/increasing aid etc. But it won't work, because of the corruption you mentioned.

All it achieves is increasing my blood pressure whilst Geldof tries to gives away my taxes to some Dictator to buy another fleet of BMWs.

I'm sure that even Gordon Brown winces a bit when he jumps on the 'Make Poverty History' bandwagon, as he should know that it won't work but it is a good vote winner (in the short term that is, if/when he does pay out what he's promising he might not prove so popular).
