Well, I know that The Slits did a fantastic cover of Grapevine - it's on the Cut LP and may also have been on a single. In fact I have an MP3 of it that I've just fired up. The "trilling" certainly sounds like The Slits rather than the Raincoats and I've never heard of a version by them, so I'd bet a week of Hooooooozes wages that Mr DJ (name names) got it wrong.
Here's The Slits version: User Posted Link
Haven't listened to it for a while, but I always enjoyed Boston College Radio, which I used to listen to all the time when I worked there. Most of the DJs play something interesting - ranging from contemporary indie back through punk and 60s psychodelia. And there's often some decent political chat - I remember it as being my introduction to Noam Chomsky. And Ice Hockey. Anyway, here's a link User Posted Link where you'll find links to their streaming service, schedule and playlist.
