Re. Worst seasons... '95 - '03 the worst of times, the best of times
I was attending every home game and about 70% of away games together with the young WY (age 5-13). Leans times and he had precious little to get excited about but he stuck with it.
Poor players, poor football, and hard going. The drives back to Sussex were long and often fruitless. However... what a bonding experience for a single dad and son; shared experiences and emotions that have lasted and run very deep.
I think I was more excited for him when we got back in the "big time" for a while as he'd had to put up with a lot at school. After some tortuous teenage years, he's now mid twenties and we both look back at those times with deep, deep affection and love.
Sharing Wembley together with him was unprecedented and the joy for both of us was created from those long years of football famine. Whatever life brings, however Norwich perform, I'll be forever grateful that they created something between us that no one else can quite comprehend. Something that is just us and A world we inhabited together through thin and a little thick.
