Possible reason why the Board waited until yesterday to sack Neil:
Although the Rangers link seemed wide of the mark, if they were in for him then we could have got rid without having to pay him off. It was only the back end of this week that Rangers got agreement from their new manager's old club, so perhaps just waiting until that one had sorted itself out.
