we can all see it's not working on the pitch (that's something that AN is very keen to agree with in many interviews after most losses), but there's been lots of criticism that they don't even seem to be trying to sort it out - such as questioning why we don't have a dedicated coach for the defence

i think it is wrong to say that he is trying to deflect *every* criticism of him with that one sentence
