Where do you join the m40? rather than drive around the M25 i
would consider getting a train from Oxford Parkway or Bicester (or if you join further south then Wycombe or Beaconsfield) to Marylebone (45 minutes) and then Bakerloo to Oxford Street and central line to Bethnal Green.
probably will be about the same time wise overall (not looked into it) but takes the M25 out of the equation. Driving around London is always a massively unknown quantity even in the afternoon.
