This. The whole training ground thing is a complete red herring.
Ok our facilities may no longer be "cutting edge" and in an ideal world could do with improving in places but by the same token they are really not that bad either. Colney is still a pretty pleasant environment to train in.
I do not believe that any player decides they do not want to join us due to the Colney facilities.
Its more likely to be the numpty we have as head of recruitment, the fact we again seem to be targeting players from big clubs (who don't see Norwich as a step up) whilst at the same time trying to lower our average wages, that agents know the manager has poor man management skills and also the fact that we currently don't look that likely to be in the premier league next season.
If we were offering them £40k a week rather than £20k or even were top two and offering a large wage rise on promotion then I am pretty confident they would be happy with the facilities.
I keep hearing that we need to move to a model of buying younger, hungry players or bringing through the youngsters yet targeting players from Sporting Lisbon and Ajax is just like what we did when we missed out on all those centre backs during two windows. We really should be hoovering up the best that the championship has to offer whilst we still have some form of financial advantage over most other clubs.
