Was there a fall out when they got rid of Adams? I think it was
pretty much universally accepted that it was the correct decision as evidenced by the teams subsequent improvement. It was probably also the case that people felt it was a shame he had to be got rid of as he was a nice guy but I don't think they got any stick about it in terms of the merits of the decision.
If anything it should encourage them that making a proactive change when things are not going right can make a big difference, as was also the case with Gunn. Both times we have changed it early enough in recent9ish) times has seen an underperforming team improve massively and get promoted.
