Personally I think that Bournemouth thing was a massive bit of opportunism on his

part and in all probability rather lucky. He lived off that for a while. It remains the only occasion that he's managed to influence a game positively that I can recall (he's never done anything like it since) and I deep down wonder whether he actually stole the credit for that decision a bit from Phelan who looked mightily p**sed in the immediate aftermath.

Admittedly the playoff final was impressive but then the players were also unlikely to need too much motivating for a game of that magnitude.

My own view is that he's a bit of a tub thumping bluffer which only works short term and that once the mask was lifted last season and the players realized he doesn't have the tactics or nous to go with it and he then lost his nerve post Newcastle then our decline set in.
