Actually, I know the reason, the real reason we let in at least one goal per game. Its
a huge contractual booboo we made in the summer when revising the players contracts for life outside the 'EPL'.
Due to a lack of McNally to go over the small print, instead of reducing the clean sheet bonus by 40% in-line with the other relegation clauses, it actually got INCREASED by 40%. Meaning, in laymans terms, if Ruddy kept a clean sheet, that alone would cost the club upwards of £79k.
Minimum 4 games a month. Ten other players. You do the math.
Hence the need to get the Irish lad in nets pronto (he still has the same clause but a much lower salary which is a multiplier in the bonus calcs.)
Could this be contributory towards the reason we don't practice defensive set pieces or man to man marking any more>?
