It's interesting to look at the different tactics employed against Reading recently.

Brighton played 5-4-1, with a very defensive midfield. Failed dismally due to the personnel.

Derby played 5 in midfield at home, and it seemed to cause us some problems, helped by them being allowed to score an illegal goal.

Leicester and Coventry both tried to pack the midfield, with some moderate success until we broke them down.

Palace at home played 4 in midfield but told them not to cross the half-way line, and to use rough-house tactics when necessary, so that we couldn't break. Most effective of the lot, but needed a quality penalty-gainer to get a sight of goal and a tame referee to let them get away with it.

And then there's the clown who is manager of Norwich. Against the team with the best wingers in the division, he decides to play 4-3-3. Quite simply the most inept tactical display at Madejski Stadium since Pardew played Harewood on the wing. How on earth he is still nominally in charge is totally beyond me. Do they not have scouts at Carrow Road?
