Well...
Earnshaw will probably fit our "bang it into the channels and hope" style better. And our defenders might start to realise they can't just lump it at a target man if we play Earnie and McVeigh up front and they can't see them.
I think given the options I'm happier we've paid this much for a proven international striker rather than young Jerome who has a half a season at Championship level behind him.
If you look at it from a "big picture" view, Ashton swapped for Earnie and 3.75 mill (assuming the clauses get paid) isn't a bad deal either.
