Retrospectively, his decision to come here probably says a lot.

At the time I remember a subtle surprise in some corners that he joined us... the Everton fans teased him that he 'wanted to play championship football'. I remember his first interview and him stating that he was 'as a senior player, going to use his wealth of knowledge and experience to influence the rest of the team'.

He needed to come back down to earth and realise that he was not some 'Huckerbeesque' dream signing from the big league and that's probably sinking in right about now.
