I've got a theory about corners at FCR,
I said this ages ago on here but I think I know the issue with taking corners at FCR.
Having played on the hallowed turf a number of times for different teams (and being a dead ball kicker), taking corners there has always been a bit of a problem when I've played. I've noticed it for a number of NCFC players and away teams too.
The reason for me is that there's very little room between the quadrant and where the grass meets the perimeter track. Separating the grass from the track around the edge is a wooden frame. Due to this most people begin their run up on the track which is pretty slippery with studs on.Then there's a small step as you go from the track onto the grass, which causes you to change your footing. Then because there is limited room from the grass edge to the quadrant, there's not really enough room to adjust your footing again in the run up to strike the ball. Next time you're there, watch and you'll see what I mean as someone takes a corner.
Now obviously one could argue that these are pro's, they should know how to take a corner, yada, yada, yada, and whilst that is true, it still doesn't take away from the fact that a good strike of a dead ball is helped massively by a level, even surface.
Here's some pics that kind of show what I mean...
