the only reasons why teams like Palace seem to have more money than us are

a) they don't keep getting relegated
b) they have signed a few stars rather than wasting it on numeous players who are not good enough.
c) there is now a massive influx of money to the Prem - just as we are getting relegated.

It's nothing to do with them having financial backers, or over-extending themselve financially; it's purely because they've been better run than us in the last five yeas.
