Some things will get you a long way in English cricket.
Look at how many chances Ramprakash (a Middlesex/Surrey player) was allowed to fail for England while plenty of others who were as pretty much as prolific in County Cricket - but played for less 'influential' counties - got one or two goes before being dumped for good.
