AMEN Richard Balls! Fucking quality

At the time of writing, we have not signed Cameron Jerome, Gary McSheffrey, Izale McLeod or anyone else to replace him. But it won't matter if we spend ?3m or ?3 in the transfer window if the management can't instigate a sea change in the way we play. Even Ruud van Nistelrooy would struggle to score 20 in a season with the paltry service our strikers get.

In the Watford game, a Norwich side brimming over with Nigel Worthington appointees exhibited plenty of energy and endeavour, but there was one glaring omission - quality on the ball.

As a unit we looked decidedly lopsided, offering nothing down the right side, and there was simply no one in the midfield who threatened to put their foot on the ball and run the game. Youssef Safri's return from the African Cup of Nations cannot come soon enough, but he will be no miracle cure.

When he took over just over five years ago, Nigel Worthington invited fans not to judge him on the team he inherited, but on the one he built. Should he fail in the transfer market once again, he will face the prospect of more and more supporters doing just that.

How refreshing to see someone in the local media saying what every other fan is thinking
