I suspect it probably isn't the case that we have both sht players AND a sht manager

If BOTH were below standard we would be regularly getting whipped, whereas we have actually been competitive in almost every game, very rarely being overrun.
The margins have been pretty narrow, coming (in my opinion anyway) down to a lack of quality in both boxes.
Given that this season has very closely resembled the last Premier one, which had mainly the same players but a different manager, it suggests to me that the quality of the players is probably more of an issue than the quality of the manager, so AN deserves the benefit of the doubt at this point.
