To resign at this point, with six points still to play for and survival possible? It's effectively chucking in the towel.
It's conceding that we're s**t and haven't a cats in hell chance of getting through this.
It's conceding that the squad isn't good enough.
It's conceding that Neil is lost.
Just a couple more games and the reaction may not have been so heavy. But now? It makes a strong statement about the club's disarray and was probably done on purpose.
