BT Billing

Just got a call at home from someone claiming to be from BT reviewing my account to see if I could pay less. They knew all sorts about my account and advised I speak to billing to reduce a couple of aspects of it as my costs had gone up after 12 months. Spoke to billing at bt who said it must have been a prank call as they have no record of calling me. Asked if there is anything I need to be concerned about, they said no but they would contact security nonetheless.

Anyone else had this? I could hear other similar ocnversations going on in the background but BT are convinced it wasn't them calling. Only things I gave away were phone number (which they knew coz they called me) and postcode.

What is the point of such an organised prank call? I was hoodwinked though, thats for sure...
