Al strikers miss chances of course but a few that Jerome has missed (not just half chances but chances you have a right to expect a premier league striker to score) do appear to have been particularly costly. And yet we do seem to play slightly better as a team when he plays.
Again for me its symptomatic of our muddling through in the transfer market this season. Rather than shelling out on a top quality striker to lead the line we've sort of fudged it but bringing in Mbok and Bamford on loan and hoping Jerome scores at a level he's never done before.
I also think the failure from successive managers to get Hooper fit enough and in the side was a huge waste because that boy can finish. Sadly though it became something of a viscious circle because he clearly needs to be fit before he finds his best form but a couple of poorly timed injuries got his seasons off to a bad start and then when he recovered he was never fit enough for us to see his full ability.
