The fact that Norwich City are in the Premier League means they are overachieving. Discuss
Now I'm not a troll or an Ipswich fan but I have been thinking about this season and our natural place in the order of footballing things and it is hard to sustain the argument that we are (at the moment) a natural Premier league team.
By any metric that I can think of (apart from Prem distorted turnover) we are not in the top 20 clubs in England. I'm talking, size of ground (32nd), trophies, seasons in top division (36th), wealth of owners, etc etc. Our natural place is probably top half championship? At least until we expand the ground etc etc.
Therefore it strikes me that we are doing incredibly well just to be where we are but you would not recognise that from the general attitude of most of our fans who, I would argue, have unrealistic expectations of where we should be.
This isn't being 'little Norwich' about it all. Just recognising the difficulty of even getting to where we are.
