Couldn't agree more. Pragmatically we should resist signing players who are meant to give a quick fix for a last surge to the play-offs. A lay off position is not going to happen now as we need to get to 73/74 points minimum in 16 games - not likely.

A sligthly longer term view is needed - we have to look to season 06/07 now. Identifying players (such as Halford) and getting them for sensible money makes sense. Maybe this is Nigel's thinking - he's signed up for your strategy!
