VMT - mostly because he's clearly a talented manager

even if he has struggled at times this year. Having continuity with a talented manager - even if he's going through a poor run - is worth a lot imo. Especially because we don't have a football board or seem to have any decent succession planning.

Also, it could easily be argued that the mistake the board made with Hughton was sacking him during the season at all, when there was no obvious improvement to come in.

In the last 30 or so years, we have always got worse in the short/medium term after sacking a proper manager. The only times getting rid of a manager has helped us in the short term, is when they were absolutely hopeless with no track record of success anywhere (Gunn, Grant etc..)
