You would have thought that it would be worth Chelsea keeping him on given that I'm sure he could offer a hell of a lot to the young players coming through and even to some of the newer signings.

However, maybe he's just not as popular as he would like to be within the club and his off field baggage may have damaged his chances of being offered an off field role in the future.
