Sadly though, I think the fantastic football by Fox, Crook etc belongs to a different era.

I'm just not sure it's possible to build up a really strong side that plays attractive football and genuinely challenges for honours with plenty of home-grown players, long-serving British talent bought from other club's reserves and the odd relatively big-money signing in the Rupert Murdoch age.

I'd love to be proved wrong but I just don't see it - I often wonder how Mike Walker's (first) team would fare in the modern Premiership ...
