from next year relegated teams will get over ?40m in parachute payments rather than the current ?25m-ish, making it far more difficult for teams without those payments to compete.
They are therefore prepared to risk FFP violations and transfer bans next season if they don't go up for this do or die big shot (on the basis that they're probably f***ed next season even without those penalties so they don't have much to lose)
