You have to feel for Neil
On one hand there's no point signing someone who won't add anything (which will lead to fans moaning that it is embarrassing we aren't ambitious enough)
On the other hand we try to aim high and risk going for people who will ultimately hope for better and sign for us if nothing 'better' materialises (which leads to fans moaning that we haven't done business early and aren't being realistic).
It's good that we're trying to be ambitious but we still can't seem to shake the fact we're generally an unfashionable club, have a manager with very few connections, are geographically miles out of the way, we refuse to pay over the odds and not guaranteed to be in the prem next year. Whether we like it or not these are all factors we have, and always have dealt with.
He seems to be frustrated and understandably trying to talk up the worst case scenario. With the way we play, 3 strikers IS enough and given we have done enough up until now we could arguably still do ok.
Obviously this isn't ideal however I suspect that if we're going to sign any remotely impressive striker it will be last minute when a better offer doesn't materialise / when we realise we have to pay over the odds and gamble a bit.
I'm still relaxed.
