Not according to hammers

"Personal terms with the player have also been agreed and the deal is now just subject to a medical, which we hope to complete in time for the striker to be unveiled at Upton Park before tomorrow night's Premiership clash against Fulham."

Based on what Doncaster said I would imagine West Ham came in with a bid that wasn't acceptable a few weeks back. Dean made it clear he wanted to go so the club then negotiated it to an acceptable deal for them.

I actually think that had we been near the top then things might be different but if you see West Ham in the top ten and you see Darren Bent doing well then you're not going to stick around with a mid-table championship club
