Giving them so much of the ball in the second half, however many kittens it must've given many of the fans, was all part of the plan. 2015/16 is the Premier League of the counter-attack; the first goal is so, so important. Score it, and you can play chicken with the opponent, as we did perfectly today. And our record when we've led in games is excellent.

We're nothing fancy, nothing special. Just a hardworking, well organised bunch of blokes giving everything and playing to a clear structure. Of course we won't meet a side as poor as Villa again - but this team knows what it's doing. This team, very considerably because of this manager, is staying up.

Now to open the chequebook and give them a helping hand on the way to doing so.
