there are reasons to be optimistic

1) spurs looked really good. kane ran superbly and alli also looked great. they have quality throughout the team and performed to it. These are always tricky matches, a point would have been amazing
2) Ruddy and Martin at CB were costing us a lot of goals, and we dropped points we shouldnt have. Now they are out of the side the defence does look much more solid against most teams. If we buy 1 top defender in the window we wont give away so much for the seond half of the season.
3) Our midfield is good - we have options, especially when Wes plays.
4) hopefully we get to see DM playing up front against Villa. This is a winnable game, and he has looked pretty sharp in the box. When Jarvis is back fit, we can have redmond and jarvis running off him which will have enough pace to create problems

don't despair..... once the defence is sorted we can attack more. It's been inhibiting our players and our tactics. Not like this wasnt inevitable unfortunately, but it can be solved.....
