Etuhu may prove to be a decent signing - is looking better. But you can get a very decent player for ?500k at this level if you spend wisely - as you have pointed out. We all knew how s**t hughes was when he signed - in fatc, it turns out he's even worse. All fans would prefer to spend ?500k on an unproven but promising youngster than a talentless journeymen - but Worthless happily wastes our money.
