I don't really see why Rudd's selection should be making the defence more nervous

(Or how you would know that's the case.). He's playing as well or better than Ruddy was. It's not as if Ruddy was particularly decisive on crosses. Or any quicker coming off his line than Rudd seems to be.

I think our defence looked nervous and jittery yesterday more because Everton were putting them under pressure, and the midfield weren't helping enough.
