After the Paris attacks I asked myself which time is better, now

or when I was growing up in the seventies.

There is so much at the moment that seems awful and I really hate this government. It was getting me down.

I tried to be objective and not just nostalgic for a rose tinted past. I came to the conclusion that while there was a lot to like about when I was growing up (free uni education and a full grant for me for example) it's still got to be better now hasn't it?

I love the way I don't have to put up with smoking when I'm out, attitudes to women, racism and same sex couples is so much better (not perfect obviously) and I don't think I could manage without the internet anymore.

So that all made me feel a little more positive about things.
