He needs to learn and quickly

That's part and parcel of having an inexperienced manager.

It's clear that tinkering isn't working. We need to play in the way we are good at playing.

We consider moving him on at the point he's run out of ideas / direction, or he's become fixated on a hopeless approach ( a la hughton).
